18 Oct RUGCUTTERZ DANZ ARTZ 13TH ANNUAL DANCE EXTRAVAGANZA
After months of choreography, endless amounts of practices and competing at regional competitions, the 2015/ 2016 dance season has come to an end. Rugcutterz Danz Artz’s 13th Annual recital, the 2016 Dance Extravaganza allowed students as young as 3 years of age to soon-to-be high school graduates, of both recreational and competitive levels take the stage and show off their skills. Students were leaping, tilting and twirling their way across the stage with grace, and poise to entertain the audience and showcase their love and dedication to dance. The recital showcased all styles of dance including Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Hip-Hop, Lyrical, Musical Theatre and Acro. All performed to the collaboration of popular hits and older classics that engaged the audience to clap along, and in some cases literally mouth the word ‘wow’.
Biggest Thank-You
Countless hours of hard work and dedication have lead to this year being another successful year here at Rugcutterz Danz Artz. Although the students were the ones you saw out on stage, we would also like to recognize all those from the Rugcutterz community that helped us throughout the year behind the scenes. The show would certainly not have been as successful without the behind the scenes help. From the front desk staff to the influential teachers and their assistants, our talented prop dads, and our creative costume designers, you have all become key components in making the show extravagant. Without you, our dancers would not be able to perform as they do, and for this, we are forever grateful.
A Production to Remember
This year’s recital performances started off with a whimsical production entitled ‘Never Grow Up’ choreographed by the ever so talented Miss Kimberly Barker. The performance received the Adjudicator Award and the Production Award earlier this dance season at the Candance 2016 dance competition.
The combination of movement, costume, music and props swept the audience members away to Neverland in a collaboration of different dance styles. The stage was filled with movement and life as all the components of the rivalry between Peter Pan and Captain Hook unraveled on stage. With big smiles and great charisma, the students dove into their characters and really embraced the storyline. Peter Pan, Wendy, Tinkerbell, John, and Michael, flew across the stage amongst the clouds as Captain Hook, Mr.Smee and the whole pirate clan swam amongst the alligators. Of course Tiger Lily, the Indians, and the Lost Boys made an appearance as well. The student’s talent and ability to capture Miss Kim’s choreographed visions do not go unnoticed in performances like these. Whether, it was the optical illusion of bodies forming a giant life-size alligator, to the synchronized shadows and group dances, all components really pulled the performance together. This year’s production number was certainly one to remember, and everyone who participated should be very proud of all of their hard work.
“I dance to live, I dance to breathe, I dance to be free, I dance to be me.”
The seasons-end dance recital is a bittersweet moment for all, as it indicates another dance season has come and gone. Rugcutterz Danz Artz extends their deepest gratitude to all the hard working and passionate dancers that participated this past season, and cannot thank you enough for making the final showcase even more extravagant than ever imagined!
Words cannot describe how proud we are of each and every individual that has become a part of the Rugcutterz community. We are thoroughly pleased we could participate in making your dance dreams come true, and love to continue to watch each dancer grow into their own.
With a heavy heart we say goodbye to six amazing, and dedicated competitive dancers this year-Carly Antonucci, Victoria Balsamo, Sarah Elisio, Alyssa Jolly, Tal Katz and Guilia Pittiglio. Ladies, we wish you all the best in your future endeavors, and hope that this is not a ‘Goodbye’ but more of a ‘See you later’. Remember that you are always welcomed at the studio and there will always be space in competitive routines if it isn’t time to hang up your dancing shoes just yet. You will always be a part of the Rugcutterz family and now have the pleasure of joining our distinguished group of alumni dancers. To quote Wayne Dyer, “Dance (through life). When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor. It’s to enjoy each step along the way.” and we hope you continue your dance journey through the rest of your life.
Recreational and Competitive Stand Outs
Seeing our dancers progress from the start of the dance season in September to their final recital performances in June speaks to the hard work, dedication and true passion each student exudes. There are many positive characteristics that stem from placing a child in recreational or competitive dance classes. First and foremost, it provides a safe and nurturing environment for students. Within their time at the studio, students are encouraged to be active, gain confidence and form genuine friendships. Additional strong attributes that are instilled through dance classes include the importance of time management, organizational skills and most importantly teamwork and leadership skills.
We have the pleasure of watching our youngest dancers transform into young men and women throughout the years and it is these characteristics that have helped mold them into the young adults they are today. This season at recital, I had the pleasure of watching some of our recreational acro routines. While watching one routine, in particular, I noted to myself that I remember when Melissa was in our Kinder Acro class learning how to do summersaults and now she is young adult tumbling across the stage. Watching a student progress from learning the foundations of dance techniques to becoming a performer is a true blessing.
ROAD TO NATIONALS
We are also very proud to say that Rugcutterz Danz Artz competitive team will be competing at Nationals in Collingwood, Ontario this upcoming July. We are excited to continue our practices and give the competition all we have.
Additional exciting news, at this year’s Bedazzled Dance Champions finals which takes place June 29, 2016 – July 6, 2016, they have added a Dazzlin’ Darling Pageant to the weeks activities. The top 4 females and male dancers from each of the (12) 2016 Regional cities in the competitive division will qualify to participate in the finals and run for the Miss & Mister Dance Champions 2016. Rugcutterz Danz Artz has two students entered in the Pageant for Nationals- Chloe Chateauvert and Emily DePrisco. We wish these ladies the best of luck and we are excited to cheer you on!

Below are some of the amazing comments we have received after this year’s final performance.
“This dance school is one of kind. It is my sons first year in a dance program here and they have truly made him feel so special in every way. Seeing him dance on stage so confident and proud makes me the happiest mama. Thank you Rugcutterz Danz Artz for your dedication, talent and genuine care for all your clients. We can’t wait to be back tomorrow at Recital”- Josie Cannone-Figliomeni
“Thank you again Rugcutterz Family for giving us another opportunity to be with you all!!! Had an amazing time this season building more wonderful memories!!!!!” – Laura Mauti
I just want to thank the dance studio Rugcutterz Danz Artz in Vaughan for an incredible year. After having my daughter attend 4 other dance schools, this by far blows the others out of the water. The dancing, creativity, and props were amazing in the year-end recital. But what makes this place stand out? Besides the owners being so sweet and helpful, they do little things that have impressed me all year. One being a progress report and the other throwing a free year-end party to show their appreciation for the kids. Ps- this recommendation is coming straight from my heart! No solicitations here. – Jennifer Stallman (Entertain Kids On A Dime)
“Thank you so much to you and to all of the teachers at the studio for a fantastic competitive year! Clara has never been happier! She has already made such amazing friendships and I can see that bonds are already forming. She enjoys every minute of her time at the studio. Thank you for making her feel safe and so incredibly welcomed – it really is like a second home for her. We are so proud to be a part of the Rugcutterz team! Congrats to everyone involved for a wonderful recital – you make it look so easy – but I saw for myself what great organization and leadership is required to make it all work!” – Diana Cabral
“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you and your team at Rugcutterz for an amazing season. My daughter enjoyed every second of it, and she was especially excited about her performance.” – Cinzia Di Meglio
“Exceptional dance school, amazing and attentive staff…” – Chantle Lopes
“After having my daughter with Rugcutterz Danz Artz for three years, I have nothing but amazing things to say about this dance organization. Seeing my daughter dance today was such a great feeling as I can see her get better and better each year. Also, the warmth and family like you feeling you get at this dance studio are what sets it apart from the rest. I was in a bind on Tuesday as I misplaced a piece of my daughter’s costume. I emailed Stephanie and she told me what to get and within in an hour she emailed me and said don’t worry I’m going to the same store I will pick it up for you. To me, that speaks volume about what this studio is all about it. True testimonial here from one happy mom!” – Laura Cannone
